Beyond… A Journey Within

Return To Innocence

Freaky? What if the fly which is irritating you is one of your past-life friends who want to catch up with you?You might have leveled up and taken rebirth as a human but she is still stuck in her fly-lives!

Why rebirth? Isn’t one life hassles enough? Starting with adjusting to diapers and human speech to being forced to school with crying faces to teenage issues and career concerns and settling the crisis,  isn’t life done with us in one time?

Sadly, nah-ah!

Richard Bach in his book Jonathan Livingston Seagull puts it very well, “’Do you have any idea how many lives we must have gone through before we even got the first idea that there is more to life than eating, or fighting, or power in the Flock? A thousand lives, Jon, ten thousand!… We choose our next world through what we learn in this one…

Our soul has to finish learning all lessons and it takes many lifetimes and birth on different galaxies to finish it. (Yeah, Superman’s Kryptonite do exist! ) We have to go through all the chapters sequentially and finally amalgamate into The Source. I think we are responsible for increasing the number of our lives! We don’t take lessons seriously, bunk the opportunities, tease the teacher, try to cheat and hence fail the exam and come back again in the same class!

One more point where most of us get confused is ‘rebirth’ and ‘reincarnation’.  When I asked my mentor after getting bewildered by varied beliefs, he defined it in simple terms for me. (Though ‘simple’ is a huge understatement). Rebirth is the cycle of lives after lives. It can be anything from human to animal or again human. Reincarnation is when an enlightened soul comes back to help others in this realm.

Hence, you, taking birth from protozoa to algae to an apple tree to a human (assuming you come back as human only and doesn’t degrade to lower levels) is a rebirth. Spiritual gurus reincarnate. (Please don’t include so-called guru (s) who grow their money empire, hide it beneath their unholy ‘ass-an’ and speak crap ).

Death, as horrific it may sound, is being described as a means to start another existence. I loved what Rumi said – “I died as a mineral and became a plant, I died as a plant and rose to animal, I died as animal and I was a man. Why should I fear? When was I less by dying?”

I first came to understand from Brian Weiss’ bestselling book, ‘Many Lives, Many Masters’ about how people can remember their past lives and how it affects their present. The protagonist came to understand that she has been through eighty-six lives and realized reasons of some of the ‘whys’ of her present life. You too must have come across news about people who remember their past lives and are proven to be true. Past-life regression therapy is increasingly gaining grounds. People are getting healed by it. A phobia in your present life may be the result of the subconscious memory of a death in another life. Vertigo may be the result of your death by falling from a height. Postnatal depression in women could be because she was once born as a stillborn or lost a baby in some past life.

Why doesn’t everyone remember their past lives? Could be because of your different belief set in this life. Could be because the events of your past life might trouble your present. One remembers it when it helps it to grow spiritually in this life. Or could be because you will get into low self-esteem by remembering the dung beetle life of yours!(No offense to dung beetle! He is better than many homo sapiens here.)

So, what would you like to be in next birth? If given a choice, I would like to be my friend’s German Shepherd. Eat, Play, Sleep. Repeat the cycle. Be the center of attention; get Sunday massages, shampoo, blow dry and am cute no matter what I do. A small, sweet life. I don’t see how on earth is he on any lower level than us. Sharp-minded, amazing sense and memory! I am sure he has evolved from a mere human to a special dog! He must have come from some other galaxy! All said and done, unconditional love will be the biggest lesson I’ll learn.

I am thinking of undergoing past life regression therapy too. Are you?

What if you were Adolf Hitler? And the psychiatrist breaches his code of confidentiality? 😉

I might consider undergoing a therapy, you know. This is the impact of your 'attractive' style of writing.

Keep enlightening us especially on these oh! we-have not- been-breast fed topics!. Happy writing! 🙂
